Tax Manager - Job Description

 

AbOUT THE ROLE

Your primary responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Working closely with all Partners and other Senior staff on business tax compliance and tax advisory engagements

  • Working proactively as a leader to ensure delivery of high-quality tax engagements

  • Conducting and reviewing technical research, tax planning recommendations

  • Preparing and/or reviewing complex Canadian personal, corporate and trust tax returns, information returns and forms, prescribed tax election forms, and other tax work prepared by staff

  • Supporting and mentoring firm staff in respect of tax matters, including organizing and delivering in-house training

  • Identifying client service opportunities


ABOUT YOU

A successful candidate will have:

  • CPA designation or equivalent

  • 4+ years of experience in a public accounting firm as a tax specialist and/or an assistant tax manager

  • Enrolment or completion of the In-Depth Tax Program or Masters of Tax Program an asset

  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written

  • Ability to multi-task and manage a demanding workload and multiple deadlines

  • Strong leadership skills and ability to coach and develop team members

  • Proficiency in Caseware, Profile, TaxPrep, Microsoft Office, and various tax research software
